Obafemi Martins tallies his 15th goal of the season

19 October 2015, 18:09

Seattle - Obafemi Martins performed admirably once again for Seattle Sounders, netting his 15th goal of the season in his team's 1-1 draw with Houston Dynamo on Sunday.

The experienced striker scored in the 82nd minute at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Texas to cancel out Ricardo Clark's opener 20 minutes out of intermission.

Before the Nigeria international's header off a corner from Andreas Ivanschitz leveled the score line, Martins had a chance to restore parity when he was in a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper John Deric but fluffed his lines.

Though he has struggled with injuries for a portion of the 2015 season, the 30-year-old is the leading scorer for the Century Link Field outfit with 15 strikes from 20 matches.

In his last 10 matches in the American top flight, the former Inter Milan and Newcastle star failed to score in only two, against Real Salt Lake (August 23) and LA Galaxy (October 5).

Seattle Sounders will conclude the regular season with a home game against Real Salt Lake next Sunday and a victory in front of their fans will certainly take them to the play-offs for the seventh consecutive season.
