Rangers appoint new chief executive

20 November 2013, 17:23

London - Scottish giants Rangers announced on Wednesday that they have appointed former Manchester City official Graham Wallace as their new chief executive.

Born in Dumfries in southern Scotland, the 52-year-old businessman spent four years at City, most recently working as their chief operating officer.

"I am absolutely delighted to welcome Graham to the role of chief executive of Rangers Football Club," Rangers chairman David Somers told the club website.

"Following an extensive recruitment process the board interviewed several high calibre individuals and determined that Graham was by far the outstanding candidate for the position."

Rangers are currently 11 points clear in the Scottish third tier, League One, having been relegated to the fourth division in 2012 after going into administration.

"I am delighted to join Rangers Football Club as chief executive as the club continues its journey back to the pinnacle of the game in Scotland and beyond," Wallace said.

"For more than 140 years, this club has been recognised throughout world football and whilst the last few years have been distressing, there is no reason why Rangers cannot be even stronger than we once were before these challenges presented themselves."
