Lagos - The image of the Nigeria Professional Football League suffered another blight following the abandonment of the Week 16 game between Akwa United and Warri Wolves, KickOffNigeria.com reports.
There was normalcy when referee signalled for half-time after 45 minutes of action, with the home team Akwa holding a 2-0 lead over Wolves at the Uyo Township Stadium.
However, the controversy started during the break when the referee ran out of the dugout bare-footed with his boot in his hand, alleging that he had been attacked in the restroom with a ball.
