RoPS midfielder Will John explains reason behind fine form

30 September 2015, 13:02

Helsinki - RoPS midfielder Will John has declared that he is enjoying a rich vein of form in the Finnish Veikkausliiga, because he has fully settled into the team after joining the club as a free agent in the first week of August.

In 7 starts in the top flight, the 30 - year - old has notched up 3 goals and 2 assists, with his three strikes coming in the last three matches in the league, and that includes his goal on Sunday evening in RoPS' 2-1 win over VPS.

''I've settled in and because I've settled in I feel more comfortable in my role and I understand my teammates better and they understand me,'' Will John told news24.

''This is why I have been having assists and goals now.''

The former United States U20 international has turned out for clubs in America, Denmark, Serbia, Croatia, Azerbaijan and Morocco and he has refused to write off the standard of the Finnish Veikkausliiga, pointing out that there are some exciting players in the Scandinavian country.

''I can't rate the level of the entire Finnish league as I haven't played all of the teams but overall the league is full of great players.

''I have been pleased with the level, most teams look to lay good football. Only one team we've come up against played strictly defensive.

''The top five team are on par with many of the other top teams I've played against and with,'' the 30 - year - old concluded.
