Lagos - Saki West FC have arrived in South Africa for the Future Champions Gauteng International Tournament, one of the world’s most prominent junior football tournaments.
Global Sports International stated on Monday the visiting team might emulate the feat of the senior men’s national team, which clinched the Orange Africa Cup of Nations in 2013.
“Nigerian side Saki West FC brings with them all the promise of powerful, skillful players that have emerged from the current African champion nation over the last few decades,” organizers stated.
“Nigerian players are spread throughout the world, sought for their physical presence and technical ability, and Saki West FC will give us a glimpse of the next generation of stars from that country.”
Saki West FC will hope to improve on the showing of last year’s entrants from Nigeria, Bridge Boys, who finished a credible eighth in the competition.
The side has been drawn alongside defending champions Club Tijuana of Mexico, Qatar’s Aspire Academy and South African school, Sunward Park High.
