Sammy Ameobi happy to finalize move to Cardiff City

09 July 2015, 08:53

Abuja - New Cardiff City signing Sammy Ameobi has spoken of his delight at sealing his loan switch to the Championship club.

The 23-year-old recently prolonged his contract with Newcastle United but, has immediately departed the St James' Park outfit as he hasn't been guaranteed playing opportunities when the Premier League begins next month.

''I came here to play, add creativity and hopefully excite the Cardiff City supporters,'' Sammy Ameobi told cardiffcity.co.uk.

''I'm delighted to be here with the boys and straight into training. I can't wait to get started.''

Adds Cardiff City manager, Russell Slade: ''It's about being patient and getting the right players into your Football Club.

''We bided our time and now we're delighted to get our man in Sammy. He's a fantastic addition to this squad.''

Last season, Sammy Ameobi netted twice from his 25 EPL appearances (15 starts) for Newcastle United.
