Seattle Sounders goalie laments Obafemi Martins absence

13 July 2015, 13:44

Seattle - Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Troy Perkins Cristian Roldan has acknowledged that they are struggling in the MLS as a result of the unavailability of striker Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey.

Without the former Nigeria international in the line-up, Sounders have managed a paltry 2 goals in 5 games, and have garnered 3 points out of a possible 15.

''When you're missing guys and you’re winning, you don't think about it,'' Perkins told reporters after Sunday morning's 1 - 0 loss to Chicago Fire.

''Certainly, now we’re thinking about that.

''But you know what? They’re not going to come anytime soon. We've got to turn around now and figure out a way to win.''

Martins could resume light training this week after spending more than three weeks on the side-lines due to a groin complaint.

The 30 year old has found the back of the net seven times in the MLS this term.
