Seattle - Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid has hailed the
strike partnership of Obafemi Martins and USA international Clint Dempsey.
Both Designated Players were in blistering form on Monday
morning as the Sounders secured a play-off spot for the seventh consecutive
season, with Martins notching two assists, while Dempsey bagged a brace.

''Those two guys have been phenomenal, especially as a duo
together,'' Schmid told reporters.
''When they are on their game, they' re going to find each
other, they're going to combine and I think our record is probably pretty good when
they each get a point in the game.”
Seattle Sounders skipper Brad Evans has supported the words
of coach Schmid, stating that Martins and Dempsey are being paid big money to deliver
the goods week in, week out.
He said : ''That’s why they’re DPs and why they play the way
they do and why they score so many goals for us and have so many assists.
There’s a reason why they’re on our team and why they get paid the big bucks.''
Obafemi Martins had 15 goals to his name in the MLS at the
end of the regular season.For
