Sharks coach Allen sets second round target

07 August 2015, 09:18

Abuja - Coach Festus Allen says his second round target is to steer Sharks FC out of relegation and nothing more.

The Blue Angels are facing a real battle to beat the drop after a shambolic start to the campaign.

Sharks are currently 17th on the league log with a paltry 21 points after going down 2-0 to Sunshine Stars in the match-day 21 of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Thursday.

And coach Allen is under no illusions of the immediate task of survival following a terrible opening in the first half of the Nigerian top flight.

“We want to just beat the drop for now,” he told News24.

“If we win and teams below us are also winning then it becomes difficult to predict our fate.

“I don't want to set targets by telling you what the technical crew has in stock.

“So for now I am setting a modest target of we beating the drop.”

Sharks continue their expected league resurgence this Sunday at home to Enugu Rangers.
