London - Former Nigeria international Shola Ameobi is thrashing
out an agreement with Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers, but will first
have to prove his fitness to coach Kenny Jackett having been inactive for
exactly six months.
On Monday, the technical crew will observe the 33 year old
at close quarters in the Under 21 Premier League Division 2 fixture, against Swansea
City before making a decision on whether to offer him a contract.
Manager Kenny Jackett is aware of the qualities the striker
has and has admitted that he will add more firepower to his attack if he is

''Shola is down for a few days and will play for the
under-21s tonight at Swansea,'' Jackett told wolves.co.uk.
''We will see how he does in the game as to whether we
extend and see whether he can bring some experience to our frontline.
''With his power and his size, ability to hold the ball up
and presence in the 18-yard box, is he someone who can offset the forwards we
have and give us some balance.''
Shola Ameobi played at Newcastle United for most of his career
but had brief spells at Stoke City, Crystal Palace and Gaziantep BB.For
