Striker Abdulrahman delighted with Lobi Stars' enthusiasm

14 October 2015, 12:01

Abuja - Lobi Stars striker Abdulrahman Bashir is confident the Pride of Benue can build on their narrow 2-1 win over Kwara United and avoid relegation to the second-tier division.

The former ABS forward was on target as the hosts defeated fellow relegation battlers Kwara United in the match-day 33 of the Nigeria Professional Football League at the Apa Aku Stadium on Sunday.

“We kept our eyes open as we knew the Harmony Boys could punish their opponents despite their patchy form,” Abdulrahman told News24 shortly after the match in Makurdi.

“We are in good health and there is enthusiasm within our group. Of course, it’s not easy to turn the page all of a sudden. But I must say that the team played with zeal and determination.”

Abdulrahman scored the second goal in the match and expressed his happiness with the strike.

“I am happy that I scored in the game. The goal proved crucial for us as they almost came back after Dare Ojo's goal,” noted Abdulrahman.

“With five more matches to end the season, I believe we will beat the drop. This club doesn't belong to the Nigeria National League, we are destined for the NPFL,” he added.
