Sundowns coach impressed with Uzoenyi

03 September 2014, 16:06

Cape Town - Nigeria international Ejike Uzoenyi has earned the praises of Pitso Mosimane after making his debut for Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.

Uzoenyi was a second-half introduction against AmaZulu when the Brazilians were comfortably 2-0 ahead in their Premiership clash at Loftus Stadium.

The former Enugu Rangers winger had a moment of brilliance that almost lead to his side's third goal with 76 minutes on the clock when he rounded his marker and put the ball across the face of goal, although team-mate Elias Pelembe could not get a touch to it.

For Mosimane, though, his performance was more than adequate, with the coach waxing lyrical about his new signing.

"Ejike shows class when he came in. He's not fit, you could see," the Sundowns coach said, when speaking about the tricky winger.

"But at that time the game is dead, so you give him a run so he can get the feel. He showed some class, he's a good football player," he concluded.

Uzoenyi has left to join the Super Eagles squad for Friday's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo.
