Super Eagles defender linked with Udinese

04 December 2014, 10:02

Lagos - Nigeria international Azubuike Egwuekwe has emerged as a transfer target for Italian outfit Udinese, according to reports.

The 25-year-old currently plies his trade in the Nigeria Premier League with Warri Wolves, who are said to be willing to listen to offers for the towering centre-defender.

Egwuekwe was a part of Nigeria's successful 2013 Africa of Nations squad and has been valued at between £100,000 and £200,000.

English Championship side Watford have also been credited with an interest in Egwuekwe, although the Hornets are unlikely to enter into a bidding war with Udinese.

Due to the fact that the Super Eagles have not qualified for AFCON 2015, which kicks off in mid-January, both Udinese and Watford are expected to firm up their interest in the defender in the mid-season transfer window.
