Super Eagles get Royal blessings

13 November 2013, 13:27Israel Ojoko

Calabar - The Super Eagles have received royal blessings from the paramount ruler of the Iquo People of Calabar Municipality, His Royal Majesty, Edidem (Dr) Thomas Ika Ika Qua, to beat Ethiopia and qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The traditional ruler said in a statement made available to News24 Nigeria that he is sure physically, spiritually and otherwise, that the Super Eagles have already berthed at the World Cup.

Nigeria host Ethiopia in the final leg, second round qualifier in Calabar.

Speaking in his palace, when he received team coordinator, Emmanuel Atta and Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, who were sent by Head Coach, Stephen Keshi to seek his royal and fatherly support, the traditional ruler said the match will not be as easy as envisaged but the Nigerian side has what it takes to pick the World Cup ticket.

“I have been reading all manner of boasts by the opposition that they will come here and defeat Nigeria and I simply say how can somebody who has never crossed the big river says he has killed a crocodile. The opposition will definitely fall”, he said.

“The God of Nigeria and that of the land of Calabar is with the team and no amount of evil machinations will make the team not to achieve its aim”, he declared.
