London – Players of the Super Eagles have been released on
break for the rest of the year after their 2-2 draw with Italy in an
international friendly played in London on Monday.
Coach Stephen Keshi officially decamped the team in London
Keshi, who spoke to the players and officials after the game,
thanked them for their commitment to the national team but noted that they
could have ended the year on a high with a win against the Italians who have won the World Cup several time.
“Maybe we had too much of respect for them but I am sure if
by chance we meet at the World Cup, we will put up a better performance,” he
said in a statement.
