Super Eagles set Germany base

14 May 2013, 14:54Augustine Osayande

Abuja - Nigeria's national soccer squad will have a training camp in Germany ahead of their crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier away to Kenya.

Outlining preparations for the match, Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Musa Amadu, stated that the Super Eagles will be based in Frankfurt.

The defending African champions will leave Germany via Amsterdam, Netherlands on June 3.

The match against Kenya is scheduled for Nairobi two days later.

Officials said the team will not be deterred by problems that surrounded the reverse fixture.

The Kenyan contingent complained of being shoddily treated in Nigeria as they even had a training session inside a primary school in Lagos and while the NFF has denied any wrongdoing.

The Harambee Stars, as Kenya is affectionately known in football circles were close to securing a famous victory over the Africa Champions in Calabar but were denied by a late equaliser from Italy based Nnamdi Oduamadi.

The match ended 1-1 all.
