Super Falcons thrash Ethiopia 3-0

02 November 2012, 08:02

Abuja - The Senior Female National Team, the Super Falcons, on Thursday thrashed Ethiopia 3-0 to move closer to sealing a semifinals place at the ongoing Africa Women Championship (AWC) in Equatorial Guinea.

Esther Sunday, Stella Mbachu and the captain, Perpetua Nkwocha  got Nigeria on the scoring sheet to dismiss the hard-fighting Ethiopians.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Falcons have their one leg into the semis having picked six points already from two matches and with a game on hand against Cote d’ Ivoire on Sunday.

Cote d’ Ivoire and Cameroon have three points each from two matches and would battle to join the Super Falcons in the semis from group B.

Cameroon, who lost their first game 1-2 to Nigeria, bagged their three points after securing a comfortable 4-1 win over Cote d’ Ivoire in their second group match, while Cote d’ Ivoire’s three points came thanks to the 5-0 defeat of Ethiopia in their first match.

Ethiopia are the weeping team of the group having lost two matches against Cote d’ Ivoire and Nigeria.
