Super Four Championship kicks off

04 October 2012, 14:04

Abuja - The 2012 Super Four Championship of the Nigeria National League (NNL) will kick off in Abuja on October 21, an official said in Abuja on Thursday.

NNL’s Secretary, Mr Ayo Rahman, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), that the opening day fixtures would see El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri taking on Nembe City FC of Bayelsa.

"This match will be followed by the second fixture of the day involving Nasarawa United FC of Lafia and Bayelsa United FC of Yenagoa,’’ he said.

Rahman said the championship, which involves the champion clubs of the four groups in the season 2011/2012 NNL competition, would determine the overall champions of the league.

He said winners of the championship would be presented with a trophy and a cash amount as prize money.

"I may, however, not be able to give the exact amount for now, because the details are still being worked out on this,’’ the NNL official said.

He also said prizes and awards would be presented to various players, clubs and officials as part of efforts to motivate them in the competition.
