Taye Taiwo targets national team recall

02 August 2015, 17:30

Abuja - Tekin Birinci has declared that his client, Taye Taiwo, has unfinished business with the national team after spending more than three years in the international wilderness.

The Turkish-Cypriot intermediary also confirmed that he is still in talks with Finnish champions, HJK Helsinki, over the possibility of the free agent joining the club, despite the left-back refusing to play a test game against Liverpool on Saturday, August 1.

''We are still in talks with HJK Helsinki and in the meantime we are open to any realistic offers because Taye can't wait to get a new team,'' said Tekin Birinci to news24.com.

''He is eager to find a new club because he wants to play in Sunday Oliseh's new Super Eagles.

''He wants to and is working very hard for that because he knows he can continue playing for Nigeria for a minimum of three years.''

Taye Taiwo has not been invited to the national team since the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in February 2012.

The 30-year-old turned out for the Super Eagles at the 2006, 2008 and 2010 Nations Cups plus the World Cup held in South Africa.
