UEFA orders Feyenoord to play game without fans over racism

29 May 2015, 20:14

Nyon - UEFA has ordered Feyenoord to play its next European match without fans as punishment for racism and fined the Dutch club 50,000 euros ($54,800).

In the same Europa League game against Roma in February, Feyenoord fans set off and threw fireworks and objects and blocked stairways.

Feyenoord was also fined 50,000 euros ($54,800) over that and will have to play another match behind closed doors as part of that charge if there's another incident of the kind in the next two years.

Separately, Napoli will have to play its next European game with part of the stadium closed to fans and the Italian club was also fined 80,000 euros ($87,700) after its fans' misconduct.

In another UEFA disciplinary decision, Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola only received a warning for wearing a T-shirt to a Champions League news conference that supported a campaign to investigate the death of a journalist at last year's World Cup.
