Cape Town - Super Eagles forward, Ejike Uzoenyi is still surprised
at the ability of the team to come from three goals down to beat Morocco 4-3 in
the quarterfinal of the African Nations Championship.
Morocco scored three goals in the first half of the game
played on Saturday, but Nigeria equalized in the second half, before getting
the winner in the second half of extra time.
Uzoenyi said it was like a dream as most people thought it
was over after conceding three goals in the first half.
“It’s like am still dreaming because when we were down by
3-0, it was like the world has ended and finally we started to come back and
many said it may be impossible but see what God has done. Na God ooo, no be
man”, he declared in local parlance.
Uzoenyi, who has emerged the Man of the Match three times,
said while he gave the last award to his little son who was four years old the
day Nigeria defeated Bafana Bafana 3-1, he was dedicating the latest award to
“If not for God, how can a team recover from 3-0 to come
back and win 4-3? It was only God that did it and I want Nigerians to hold fast
to him for the betterment of their lives”, he said.
