Lagos - Remo Stars' technical adviser, Olabode Awakan, has expressed satisfaction with the team's 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance in a Nigeria National League game, saying his side deserved the win.
Remo Stars secured maximum points in their NNL week 12 encounter with Bendel Insurance of Benin courtesy of two first half strikes from Awazie Ekene and Bajowa Segun.
The Sky Blue Stars needed to get back towinning ways after failing to secure maximum points in their last five matches and picking up just two points.
The victory was Awakan’s first since taking over as coach of Remo Stars.
"It was a good one, we played well and showed our quality. We controlled the game and we won because we deserved to win."
"We also have to go back and learn from our errors. We can only improve and become a better team."
Ekene Awazie, who has been impressive this month, opened the scoring in the 20th minute. He put the ball over his marker on two occasions before striking home, while Bajowa Segun scored the second a few minutes later.
Benard O. pulled a goal back for Insurance on the hour mark.
Awakan added that after Insurance scored, he remained undisturbed.
"I knew Insurance will come out in the second half hoping to get back into the game, so I told the lads to keep possession of the ball and when the chances present itself we should utilize it.”
Remo Stars will head to Ede to take on Prime FC in a week 13 fixture on Wednesday.
