London - West Brom manager Alan Irvine has hinted that he
may consider using record signing Brown Ideye in the Premier League opener
Ideye arrived at the Hawthorns on Friday and only joined his
new team-mates for training on Monday following a delay with his visa
He sat out the Baggies' 3-1 loss to FC Porto on Saturday but
scored a brace in the 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest for the Under-21's on
Irvine is impressed with the Nigerian striker's fitness and
is hopeful to have the new signing available for Saturday's clash.
"We're going to have to put people in our squad who
haven't done as much in pre-season as I'd have liked," the Albion boss
"Brown is ahead of where we feared he might be, which
is great news. Hopefully he'll be able to play some part, as with some of the
other boys who have missed pre-season will be.
"Brown is enthusiastic and seems like a
good lad - a good type. I only met him at the beginning of the week and he came
across really well."
