Why Taye Taiwo joined HJK Helsinki

Ankara - After weeks of negotiations, Taye Taiwo's intermediary, Tekin Birinci, has confirmed that the defender has completed his transfer to HJK Helsinki after passing a medical on Sunday morning, August 23.

Subject to clearance from the Turkish Football Federation and their Finnish counterparts, the Nigeria international is poised to make his official debut for the Veikkausliiga champions on Monday in the derby against HIFK.

''This morning Taye Taiwo passed all his medicals with great results, and he immediately started training with the team,'' said Tekin Birinci to news24.com.

''The coach found him surprisingly match fit already and they may make him play tomorrow's league game if his ITC comes on time.''

The Turkish - Cypriot agent has stressed that the wing - back did not consider financial incentives before agreeing terms with HJK ,and has reiterated that the left back still habours ambitions of representing the Super Eagles.

''He is going to top ranked team in a European country, he showed everyone that he is not a man after money.

''He wants where he will be most fruitful so he can make it back to Super Eagles as soon as possible,'' he concluded.

Taye Taiwo, who has been handed the number 33 kit, has signed a two - month contract with HJK Helsinki, with the club retaining the option to add an additional year.
