22 June 2015, 13:41

Lagos - Wikki Tourist forward Godwin Obaje says winning the top scorer award in the Glo Premier League is not an obsession.

19 year old Obaje who has scored five goals this season including three in his last two games says the success of his team this season is paramount to any self-achievement like the top scorer award.

"While it will be a nice thing for me to be the top scorer in the league I put my team (Wikki Tourist) ahead of my ambition and not keen on the top scorer award," he told News24.

"I want my team to do well for our fans, the government and people of Bauchi state as well as make our coaches proud, they deserve something for their hard work and support."

The younger brother to ex Black Leopard forward Joshua Obaje is however hopeful his goals help him take his career abroad soon.

"I was sad when I missed out on a deal to move to Europe but with my performances I am hopeful that by the grace of God not just a national team call up but a move abroad will come my way."
