Lagos - As the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
continue to gain more interest, records have been shattered, increased turnout
at match venues has been recorded, while the confidence level amongst the fans
has been amazing.
Compared to the 25 wins on the road in the NPFL last season,
24 wins have been recorded as at week 25 this term with the biggest being the
home loss of Kano Pillars at their home ground, Sani Abacha Stadium at which
they've gone 202 matches without losing a match since June 21,2003.
13 teams competing in the NPFL have lost at least once at
home while 16 teams have also won the road.
FC Taraba who are cooling off at the base of the NPFL log
and Heartland FC in the second week recorded the first set of wins on the road;
FC Taraba stunned Akwa United 1-0 in Uyo while Heartland defeated 3SC 2-1 at
the Lekan Salami to open a wave of wins on the road this term.

As at week four, Kwara United, Rangers and Abia Warriors all
lost at home to Heartland, Giwa and Wikki Tourist respectively. The trend
continued in week five when both FC Taraba and Heartland lost at home to
Enyimba and Abia Warriors. Heartland again lost to Sunshine at home in week
As the excitement continued to build, Dolphins and Abia
Warriors lost at home in week nine while in week 12 to 15, FC Taraba, Warri
Wolves, El-Kanemi Warriors, FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Kwara United have all lost at

3SC continued in the second stanza after a 3-1 modest win on
the road over Heartland in week 22, Rangers and Kwara United increased the
number of home losses in week 23.
The biggest win on the road was recorded in week 25 when
Nasarawa United defeated Kano Pillars in Kano, thereby breaking their 12 years
unbeaten home run. In that same week Sharks also won at Oghara against Bayelsa
With eight more games till the end of the season, pundits
still expect more wins on the road because of the hot chase at the top of the
log while the battle for survival to avoid relegation might also produce some
dramatic finish to the season.For
