Abia Warriors unveil Okey Emordi as new manager

10 November 2016, 11:48

Lagos - Veteran Coach Okey Emodi has been unveiled as Manager/Technical Adviser of Umuahia based top premier league side, Abia Warriors FC.

During the unveiling ceremony at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Wednesday afternoon, the club chairman Emeka Inyama said that the need to see the club do well in the soon to start 2016/2017 NPFL season motivated the club’s management to go for the veteran Coach who is a winner of the CAF Champions League with Enyimba FC of Aba.

Inyama extolled the governor of Abia State, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu for maintaining his resolve to sponsor two high flying clubs in the NPFL as his own way of arresting Youth restiveness and crime in the country.

Responding to questions by reporters, Coach Emodi said he came to Abia Warriors to make a statement in football excellence.

The former Kano Pillars tactician promised to look into the problems that hindered the club in the past with a view of rectifying them and making the club come out in flying colours during the soon to start season.

News24 reported that Inyama says for Nigeria to regain its pride of place in world football, the country must go back to the grassroots to discover hidden but burden talents that abound there.
