Akas heaves sigh of relief after Eagles win over Swaziland

Abuja - Nigeria defender Chima Akas is basking in glory after helping his side zoom to the group stage of the 2018 FIFA Cup Qualifiers.

The Super Eagles produced a performance against Swaziland with goals from Moses Simon and Efe Ambrose making sure they earned a 2-0 aggregate victory.

The result sees Nigeria in the next stage of the qualifiers but with tougher battles awaiting them.

Akas who played from the left-back position in the match that took place at the Adokiye Amiesiemaka Stadium is delighted his team qualified at the expense of the minnows.

“We are happy because this was a tough round,” the Sharks defender told News24.

“We needed this one. We knew how the first game went and gave the fans a much more improved performance in the return leg match in Port Harcourt.

 “We did come out and it was alike a final for us and thank God we won the game.”
