Atletico Madrid to make £12M bid for Ighalo

30 December 2015, 06:30

London - Atletico Madrid is set to make a £12m bid for red-hot striker, Odion Ighalo, according to reports in England.

The Nigeria striker has scored 13 Premier League goals in 18 games, and is said to be attracting interests from the former Spanish champions.

The Spanish giants are believed to be considering a bid in the region of £12m for the 26-year old as replacement for Jackson Martinez, who has failed to live up to expectations since joining from Porto for £25m last summer.

Colombia international, Martinez, is said to be interesting Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico could use the cash to sign Ighalo, who has now scored 30 goals in 2015.

The Nigeria international joined Watford from Udinese, initially on loan, before making the move permanent last season.

He was instrumental in Watford's return to the Premier League, as he scored 20 goals in the Championship last season.
