Azeez finally teams up with Beach Eagles

30 November 2016, 13:28

Lagos - Former Warri Wolves attacking midfielder Abu Azeez will team up with the Beach Soccer side, the Super Sand Eagles as they prepare for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.

The player, who retired from beach soccer earlier this year, had a change of heart after discussions with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the coaches of the national beach soccer team and will now team up with the squad.

The Super Sand Eagles are currently in residential camping in Badagry as they get set for the Copa Lagos tournament and the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations which holds between December 13 and 18.

“I’m on my way to join up with the squad and hopefully do well to make Nigeria proud,” Azeez told supersport.com.

“The discussions I had with the officials was fruitful and so I decided to come out of retirement to help my country once again.

“It is always an honour to wear Nigeria’s colours all the time and I’m sure my teammates have their minds on the title. It is the same with me. I want to do my best for the country just as I always have done in the past.”
