Chiejine says Super Falcons is work in progress

18 March 2016, 15:03

Abuja - Super Falcons assistant Coach, Ann Chiejine, says the friendly game between the Nigeria's U-17 Women National Team and her team was never about winning but to assess her team.

"For us, we are trying to build the team. The way they played together as a team, the transition in the passes, the depth inside, those were the things we were interested in.

"This is why we need a series of friendly matches to really help the girls. Yes, we played a 1-1 draw. It's not a big deal. It's not something to be panicking about. We played with a team that has been in camp and playing competitive games within the past four months, unlike ourselves that just came to camp about two weeks ago."

Chiejine told thenff.com that she believes playing more friendly games will help the team before going into the AWCON qualifiers proper next month.

The friendly match between the Super Falcons and Flamingos ended in a 1-1 draw at the FIFA Goal Project. The game saw Abibat Agbaji putting the senior team ahead in the 28th minute while Peace Efih equalized for the U-17 girls team in the 32nd minute.
