Chisom Chikatara released to join Wydad

18 July 2016, 10:35

Lagos - Striker Chisom Chikatara has been released by Abia Warriors to join Wydad Athletic, Sportdaylive reports.

The immensely talented goal hunter who netted four times for Nigeria in the Africa Nations Championship earlier this year, had penned a three-year contract with the former African Champions shortly after his national exploits in Rwanda but could not join them for their failure to fulfill some aspects of the deal.

Abia Warriors now claim all issues have been resolved with the Moroccan club and the player, who arrived Casablanca on Sunday, will begin his campaign in the northern African country.

“The Abia Warriors family wishes Chikatara the best as he settles down with his new club in Morocco. He served us well and we know this is just the beginning of what awaits him in future,” Inyama said.

News24 reported that Abia Warriors threatened not to release Chikatara after denying claims by Wydad that all transfer formalities have been met.
