Lagos - Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia says he is proud of
the players despite his disappointment of failing to qualify for the 2017
Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria lost 1-0 to Egypt in Alexandria on Tuesday in one of
the qualifier games, a result that dent their hope of taking part at the
tournament in Gabon.
The team arrived on Wednesday, and Siasia says he is really
proud of the boys.

“The technical crew we worked hard thinking its something we
could achieve but unfortunately we could not, but that’s what God wanted it to
be, we can’t question God, we were not lucky. We played a good game but lost.
“All the same I am very proud of the boys, I thank Nigerians
very much for the opportunity.”
With this victory, Egypt is having a comfortable lead in
Group G with 7 points, while the Nigerian team is in distance second position
with 2 points.
Though Nigeria still has a game against Tanzania, the
outcome will have no effect on Nigeria’s chances to qualify for the Nations
