Emenike makes West Ham debut

07 February 2016, 06:37Israel Ojoko

London - Emmanuel Emenike made his debut for English Premier League club West Ham in a 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

Emenike, joined the club from Fenerbahce last month and saw 17 minutes of action as he was a 73rd minute substitute for Michail Antonio in a game that saw Kenya’s Victor Wanyama sent off in the 54th minute.

Victor Moses, who started that game, was replaced with Andy Carroll in the 61st minute.

With just nine minutes of play, West Ham could not clear their lines from the corner and Saido Mane surges into the box to send the ball skidding across goal. Maya Yoshida was still in the area and it is the centre-half who was in the right place to smash the ball home.

And that happened to be the winning goal in the dramatic encounter.
