Enyimba sails through in Champs League

29 February 2016, 11:08Emeka Okonkwo

Abuja - Reigning domestic league champions, Enyimba Football Club, are through to the next round of the Confederation of African Football Champions League.

The side reversed a 0-1 defeat by visiting Ugandan minnows Vipers, whom they beat 2 - 0 in a second leg of the preliminary rounds played in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The visitors, who matched Enyimba man for man, decried poor match officiating.

Two weeks ago, Enyimba suffered a 0-1 shock defeat at the hands of Vipers in a match played at Nakivubo Stadium in Uganda.

However, the Nigerian defending champions came guns blazing as they reversed the defeat two weeks ago to progress to the next round of the tournament.

Mfon Udouh's double ensured the two-time Champions League winners booked their berth in the next round where Vital'O FC of Burundi await.

The match in Port Harcourt was played in the capacity crowd that rallied the domestic champions.
