13 March 2016, 18:38Israel Ojoko

Port Harcourt - Nigeria club Enyimba on Sunday defeated Burundi side Vital’O 5-1 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League last 32 fixture played in Port Harcourt.

A brace each from Stephen Chukwude and Mfon Udoh, and a late strike from Leonard Ugochukwu ensured a comfortable result ahead of the return leg next week.

Enyimba, two time champions, proved their experience on the continent against a less fancied Vital’O and Chukwude opened scoring in the 21st minute for the home side. Seven minutes later, Udoh doubled the lead before Chukwude completed his brace to ensure the first half ended 3-0.

After the break, Enyimba woiuld continue from they left off, and it was Udoh who also got his second goal in the 56th minute.

Hussein Shaban pulled one back for the Vital’O, but that will not stop Enyimba from adding one more through Ugochuckwu with five minutes remaining.

The 5-1 score put Enyimba in a comfortable position going into the return leg next week.
