Lagos - Football’s world governing body, FIFA has
commiserated with the Nigeria Football Federation over the death on Tuesday of
former Nigeria international midfielder, John Ene Okon.
In a letter addressed directly to Amaju Pinnick, President
of the Nigeria Football Federation, FIFA President Gianni Infantino wrote: “I
would like to express my deepest sympathy on hearing the loss of the former
Nigeria midfielder John Ene Okon.

“On behalf of FIFA and the worldwide football family, please
allow me to extend my deepest condolences to the football community of Nigeria
and, most importantly, to his family, friends and loved ones.
“We hope that, in some way, our words of support may help
bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness.”
Ene Okon was the midfield lynchpin of the U-20 National
Team, Flying Eagles, to the 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship held in Chile.For
