Galatasaray may make move for Mikel in January

15 December 2015, 18:23Israel Ojoko

London - Turkish giants Galatasaray may make an offer for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel in January when the transfer window reopens.

Mikel has been linked with Galatasaray in time past, but the Nigeria international has remain with the English club.

The 28-year-old current contract with The Blues expires in 2017.

Mikel has been struggling to make Chelsea line-up since the start of the current season, having made just nine appearances this season so far.

He also made just six league starts in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign last year due to the form of first-choice defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic.

According to talksport, Galatatasary are now planning to make contact with Chelsea in the coming days to try and agree a fee.

Mikel was benched for all 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Leicester City on Monday, which left them 16th on the premier league table.
