Golden Eaglets trounce P-Sport Academy

21 July 2016, 19:30

Abuja - Nigeria’s U17 side, Golden Eaglets on Wednesday beat P-Sport Academy 3-0 at the NFF\FIFAGoal Project pitch in Abuja.

Oluwatobi Alagbe, Ogunsola Ishmael and Usman Musa were the goal –scorers for the Eaglets in a keenly contested match watched by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Kaduna-based P-Sport started the match fast and furious with early incursions into the Golden Eaglets' half but the duo of Alagbe and Igoh Igboun defended their territory with calm composure. At the other end, Nasifi Yahaya and Yusuf Abdulraham failed to find the back of the net as the visitors defended in their numbers too. But some few minutes towards the end of the first half, Alagbe raced upfront to head home the curtain raiser in the 42nd minute.

Second half substitute, Ishmael added Eaglets' second goal in the 63rd minute from the penalty box after petit midfielder, Augustine Chinasa was badly brought down in the box. Usman, aka Babalolo, who came in for Ishaq Abdulrasak, grabbed Eaglets' third goal in the 87th minute.

Coach Manu Garba (OON) praised the resilience of the youngsters for keeping a clean sheet and the team's winning streak in three straight matches. The Golden Eaglets opened their account with a 5-0 win over Suleja-based Santos FC and spanked Sia-One Academy 6-0 last Saturday.

News24 reported that Coach Manu Garba categorically told youngsters undergoing screening at the NFF\FIFA Goal Project in Abuja that hard work and discipline are prerequisites to be part of the Nigeria U-17 team, reigning champions of the world.
