Ighalo wins Player of the Month award

15 January 2016, 13:09Israel Ojoko

London - Watford striker Odion Ighalo has been named the EPL Player of the Month for December.

Ighalo’s coach Quique Sánchez Flores also won the Manager of the same Month.

The Nigeria international, who scored five goals during the month, including two in the emphatic 3-0 win over Liverpool, beat the likes of Mesut Özil, Marko Arnautovic, Riyad Mahrez, Romelu Lukaku and Dele Alli who were also nominated for the prize.

Watford picked up 10 points in five December games – beating Norwich, Sunderland and Liverpool and drawing at Chelsea – to establish themselves in the top half of the table, and have won plaudits for their style of play.

Some of Europe's biggest clubs have been credited with an interest in Ighalo but he's reaffirmed his commitment to the project at Vicarage Road, though he revealed it would be difficult to turn down an offer from Manchester United.
