Lagos - Nigeria U23 and Anderlecht forward Imoh Ezekiel is optimistic the Dream Team will excel at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.

The former Standard Liege striker who last played for Nigeria’s Dream Team in an international friendly against Brazil said the Siasia led side are capable of going far in the tourney. Nigeria beat Brazil 1-0.

He tipped the Nigerian team as one of the favourites for the men’s football gold medal.

“The Dream Team will excel in Rio Olympics, am very sure, I was part of the team that played against brazil in an international friendly in Rio last two months, the team has a lot of good players, so I have no doubt about the players potentials.

"The only thing the team needs is luck, hard work and understanding between the pros and the home based, but am sure we shall go far in the championship.” Imoh Ezekiel said.

The 2016 Summer Olympics will get underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016.

News24 report that coach Samson Siasia placed the blame of Nigeria’s poor outing at the 4-Nation Suwon Invitational Tournament on the doorstep of his defenders.

Nigeria finished third at the tournament hosted by South Korea.
