Mikel says he’s leaving Chelsea if not guaranteed regular playing time

29 March 2016, 15:10Israel Ojoko

Alexandria - Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has given his condition if he has to renew his contract at the Stamford Bridge club.

Mikel’s current contract expires in summer 2017.

Chelsea will have a new manager Antonio Conte in the summer and the Nigeria captain says he will discuss with the incoming boss at the end of the season to be sure of a first team action or else he moves out of the club.

"I have one more season with Chelsea but I know when this season ends, we will definitely sit down and try to sort out whatever needs to be sorted out,” he said on Metro.

"If it means me leaving, fine.

"If it means me staying, then I have to play because one thing I don't want to do is to sit on the bench like I did before."

Mikel regained regular football action since the start of the year following former manager Jose Mourinho’s departure.
