Mimiko doles out half a million Naira each to Sunshine Queens

Abuja - The 2015 Women Federation Cup champions, Sunshine Queens (Akure), have been rewarded for their latest achievement, their first ever major domestic trophy in 39 years.

Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko on Monday evening at the Banquet Hall of the government house in Akure announced a cash reward of half a million naira to each member of Sunshine Queens 

All officials and 30 players of the team benefited from the cash gifts at the colourful ceremony.

The Governor, Mimiko said: "We have won a lot of merit awards in all sectors but this is the first time we are winning gold in football and on behalf of the state l want to say thank you.

"When we created the agency, we have the clear picture of what we wanted; to discover young talents from the grassroots and develop them as a reservoir for our national teams.

"I want to assure you that we appreciate you and we will use all our instrumentality to promote and develop your career", he said.

Early in his welcome address, Chairman, Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Akin Akinbobola thanked the governor for his supports at all times saying the government investment in football have started yielding benefits.
