“We are very sad to hear about the death of Olaiya, moreso when it was only recently that he buried his dear wife. The NFF and the Nigeria football family feel the pain and grief of the children and close family members at this time,” said NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi.

Olaiya died at the Wesley Guild Teaching Hospital, Ilesa on Friday, less than two weeks after the burial of his wife, Adeola.

A former NFF Board member, Taiwo Odebunmi, said the burial arrangements for the late Olaiya would soon be announced by the family.
