Niger Tornadoes coach hails players

18 April 2016, 11:41

Lokoja - Coach of Niger Tornadoes coach Abdul Usman Biffo has hailed his boys following a 2-0 victory of Ikorodu United in a Match Day 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Striker Ismaila Gata scored twice to earn his side the maximum points at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

Biffo said his side profited from the past mistakes that cheated them of victories to unsettle the struggling Lagos outfit.

“Today’s (Sunday) victory is good response from the players after careless defeats at Abia Warriors and Akwa United as well as the home draw against Sunshine Stars,” he told SuperSport.

“I charged the players to forget about the poor results and come out strongly for a convincing victory.

“I asked them to finish the match in the first half and it worked perfectly well as we scored the goals in the first 45 minutes.

“Ikorodu United came out strongly to fight back in the second half but we held on to finish well.

“The instruction was that if we could not score more goals in the second half we should not let in any goals either.

“We committed the blunder against Sunshine Stars where we threw away a two-goal lead because the players were pushing for more goals.

“We corrected our mistakes and stuck to our instructions and it worked perfectly well for us,” the former FC Giwa coach said.

Biffo also said his side are quite positive to end their search for an away points at Lobi Stars.
