Olympiakos set to relaunch £1m bid for Efe Ambrose

26 July 2016, 13:00

Glasgow - Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose could be on his way to Greek giants Olympiakos as the club is set to relaunch £1m bid for the Celtic player, Sportdaylive reports.

18 months earlier, Olympiakos showed interest in the former Kaduna United central defender, but failed to bring him to Greece.

With the coming of Kolo Toure from Liverpool, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be willing to offload the Nigerian.

Ambrose travelled to Kazakhstan with the rest of the squad on Monday to Astana for Tuesday’s Champions League crunch, and could be handed some playing time as Toure was not registered for the first leg tie.

Ambrose is now unlikely to be at Celtic Park for much longer and a move to Greece could be on the cards, according to Daily Record.

Ambrose joined Scottish Premier League club Celtic in the summer 2012 transfer deadline day, signing a three-year contract.

In January, News24 reported that then Celtic manager Ronny Deila said it was pleasing to see his side, which include defender Efe Ambrose get the goals their dominance deserved as the Hoops routed Hamilton 8-1 to move six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
