Pellegrini includes Iheanacho in UCL squad

01 February 2016, 20:49Israel Ojoko

London - Kelechi Iheanachi could get his chance to debut at the UEFA Champions League in February after manager Manuel Pellegrini included him in the squad to face Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine.

The first leg will be played on February 24, and the Nigerian has been given the opportunity to perform for the English club.

“Kelechi will be in the UCL squad. I told Nasri I would take him out as he needs two months more to be fit,” Pellegrini said on Monday on twitter.

“We need Kelechi now as Bony is injured too. We couldn’t take the risk to go into the last 16 game with just Kun (Aguero).”

Iheanacho scored a hat-trick, his very first, on Saturday in an FA Cup fourth round 4-0 victory over Aston Villa.

It has been confirmed Pellegrini will be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.
