Rangers, MFM top Nigeria Premier League table at week 5

Lagos - Enugu Rangers, Kano Pillars and MFM FC are joint top on the Nigeria Premier League table with ten points each after week five actions.

Rangers defeated Wikki Tourists 1-0 in the only game played on Saturday.

Kano Pillars were victorious in a five-goal thriller to beat a determined Akwa United 3-2 at the Sani Abacha stadium on Sunday.

Despite not winning their match-day 5 game in a Lagos derby, MFM still ranked among the top teams after a goalless draw with Ikorodu United at the Onikan stadium.

Lobi Stars remained on nine points after losing 1-0 to Heartland in Owerri. Rivers United moved to nine points following a 1-0 victory over Nasarawa United in Port Harcourt, while Abia Warriors forced Plateau United to a 1-1 draw to also move one point clear of the top.

Enyimba were dealt a major blow by El Kanemi in a 2-0 loss in Katsina, while Warri Wolves secured a narrow 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes.

FC IfeanyiUbah and Sunshine Stars left it late to share the spoil 1-1 in Akure, while Shooting Stars managed a 2-1 win over visitors Giwa FC at the Lekan Salami stadium.
