Rangers stay top despite loss to Lobi Stars

24 March 2016, 13:38Israel Ojoko

Lagos - Enugu Rangers remained top of the Nigeria Premier table after week eight matches despite suffering a 3-1 loss to Lobi Stars on Wednesday.

Rangers’ 14 points from eight games was still enough to sustain their top spot. However, MFM FC share same number of points (14) with the Enugu side, but the Eastern Nigerian club lead with superior goal difference.

MFM FC played out an interesting 1-1 draw with Kano Pillars in a pulsating encounter at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Lobi Stars now moved to the third position on the table with 13 points, and so is FC IfeanyiUbah who still has a game in hand after beating Heartland 1-0 on Wednesday.

Niger Tornadoes compound Shooting Stars woes, beating the Ibadan club 1-0. Three games produced a barren draw, with Abia Warriors 0-0 Wikki Tourists, Warri Wolves holding Akwa United, and Rivers United unable to go past a struggling Sunshine Stars.

Giwa FC and El Kanemi also played a 1-1 draw in the MatchDay 8 action.
