“It wasn’t as if he could not play at all but with the conditions of the pitch (at the Umuahia Stadium on Sunday), I decided not to risk him.

“And I think it was the right decision because the (club’s) doctor (Chukwuemeka Agi) has now examined him and passed him fit for our next game on Wednesday.”

According to News24 report, Rivers United beat Wikki Tourists 1-0 on Wednesday, a situation that left centre half Gabriel Olalekan impressed.

Rivers United currently sits in sixth place in the NPFL standings with 28 points from 17 matches.
